Company History
Brothers
Our Presentation folder business started more than 40 years ago, in 1973. It was founded by three Gentile brothers: Steve, Dave, and Mack, in the basement of their home in Arlington, Virginia. They opened their first small storefront in Alexandria, Virginia in 1975. The brothers offered Screen Printing on a variety of products such as posters, metal signs, decals, and plastic items to the Washington Metropolitan Area. During that time they came up with the idea of imprinting on premade folders. This new idea was a game changer for their business. A fourth brother, Andy, joined the company in 1976, and Gentile Brothers Screen Printing Inc. was incorporated in 1978.

Over the next few years, the presentation folder segment of the business began to take off, and the brothers found the need to expand their operation. In 1980 the company moved to the Shenandoah Valley and opened their new manufacturing facility to make custom printed presentation folders. In 1985 the brothers expanded their product offering to the national market with a “Post Card Pack” advertising campaign. Through this effort the business grew significantly. In 1987 the brothers reached another milestone in their company by obtaining a U.S. Patent. Patent #4,636,179 was issued for their Rolodex Card file tab folder styles and the File Tab folder style FT-107. The FT-107 File Tab pocket folder is still favored by many customers today.

In 1990, the world was introduced to the World Wide Web. Steve was intrigued by the novelty of the internet and how it could relate to their business. Steve’s vision about advertising and the World Wide Web prompted him to obtain the url www.folders.com. In 1996 the company launched it's first Web Site, folders.com. In June of 1997, the company's name was changed to Folder Factory Inc. and they began using the dba “folders.com.”
